Handles: the words filled in for you

The words in square brackets that Chalkedin fills in when a link is made, and what each one reads as.

Where: Templates › Edit › InsertOpen in Chalkedin

Insert handles with the buttons in the template editor rather than typing them, so the wording always matches. Formatting you put over a handle, such as making [date and time] bold, is kept.

In every template

HandleReads as
[First name]Their first name. On a link with No name it is left out and the words around it close up, so Hi [First name], reads Hi there, (your greeting word) or Hi,.
[tomorrow or day]tomorrow, or on Friday.
[tomorrow or day and time]tomorrow at 3:40 pm or Friday at 11:30 am, with a capital T when it starts a sentence.
[date and time]Friday 23rd October at 10:00 am in an email; Fri 23 Oct, 10:00am in a text. It follows the date style under Settings › Your details.
[calendar and link]Email only: the Respond to this time button, or the calendar icon and underlined words, as chosen under Settings › Appearance. Left out of a subject line.
[link]Text message only: the link itself.
[short code]Email only: the short address, such as chalkedin.com/r/AZFSWKWB, to type in if a mail filter breaks the link.
