Common questions

Short answers to the questions people ask most.

Does my customer need an account or an app?

No. They press the button in your email or the link in your text and answer on the page that opens. Nothing to sign up to, install or remember.

Does Chalkedin send the email for me?

No, and that is deliberate. You paste it into your own Outlook, Gmail or phone, so it comes from you, and your customer’s address or number never has to be typed into Chalkedin.

Does opening the link count as an answer?

No. Company mail filters often open links before anyone reads them, so only pressing Send response counts. The card under Active does show when it was first opened.

Can I double-book myself?

Not easily. Times already offered or accepted are greyed out when you choose a start time, and so are busy times from a calendar you have added and times you have blocked out.

Does Chalkedin change my Outlook or Google calendar?

No. It never signs in to your calendar. You can share your Chalkedin times as a link your calendar reads, and bring in your busy times from a published link, and both are optional.

Will my customer get a calendar invitation?

Not from Chalkedin. Once they say yes, you send the invitation from your own calendar, unless they press No calendar invitation needed.

Can I use my own wording?

Yes. Every email, text and reminder comes from a template you can edit under Templates.

Can I book appointments rather than meetings?

Yes. Under Settings, Scheduling, What you schedule, choose Appointments, Inspections or a word of your own, and the menu, emails and your customer’s page all change to match.

What happens to my customers’ details?

Only what you choose to collect is kept, and it is cleared a set time after the meeting (seven days unless you change it). The answer and the date stay for your history. Your customer is told this on their page.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Chalkedin works in the browser on any phone, with the menu along the foot of the screen. Add it to your home screen for one-tap access.

Can my team use it?

Each person has their own account during the beta. Plans for teams open after it.

How is Chalkedin different from Calendly?

Calendly sends a booking page so the other person picks from your free times. Chalkedin is for when you are the one proposing the time: your customer answers yes, no or another day, from an email you send as yourself. Our blog has a full comparison with Calendly, Acuity Scheduling and Doodle.

Still stuck?

In Chalkedin, open Help and feedback from the menu under your initials (More on a phone) and tell us what happened, or email [email protected].
