Business hours, days and time zone
The hours and days you work, your time zone, and how dates read for you and your customer.
Business hours and days
Under Settings › Calendar:
- Opening to closing: the Start time list on New meeting runs from opening time to the last half hour before closing. Type a time instead still takes any time, and says so when it falls outside these hours.
- Business days: Monday to Friday unless you change them. Work some Saturdays? Tick Sat. At least one day has to be ticked.
Auto-expiry counts only these days and never falls outside these days and hours. See How long a link stays open (auto-expiry). The Calendar shows them when its View is on Business hours.
Time zone
Under Settings › Your details › Region, choose your Time zone. The times you propose, your business hours, expiry times and the times on your lists are all in this time zone, and it follows daylight saving by itself. The page shows the time it is there now, so you can check.
How dates read
- Dates: Day first (9 October 2026), usual in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Ireland; or Month first (October 9, 2026), usual in the United States.
- Week starts on: Monday or Sunday, the first column of the calendar.
Chalkedin always writes the month as a word, so a date can’t be read the wrong way round in any country. Under How a date reads you can see the result in an email, a text message, on your customer’s page and on your lists.
A link already sent keeps the date and time it was sent with. A change here is for the links you make from now on.
